Government revenue collection up 652% through digital payment rails

Consolidating government payments onto a single digital rail lifted monthly non-tax revenue collection from Sh1.45 billion to Sh10.9 billion — money that was always owed but never reached the exchequer.

Sh10.9B
collected monthly, up from Sh1.45B

Before eCitizen consolidation, hundreds of government agencies collected fees into hundreds of separate accounts, with reconciliation that ranged from slow to fictional.

Routing all of it through one platform lifted monthly collections from Sh1.45 billion to Sh10.9 billion — a 652% increase.

No new tax was introduced to achieve this. This is revenue that citizens were already paying, which now arrives in the exchequer instead of leaking on the way. It is the cheapest revenue any government can raise, and it funds classrooms, medicines and roads.
